Transportation

Traveling to the Richmond Region couldn't be easier. Located within a day's drive of half of the U.S. population, the Richmond Region is easily accessible from Interstates 95 and 64. Located two hours south of Washington, D.C. and two hours west of the Atlantic Coast, we're easily accessible by motorcoach, plane or train. Getting Around

Motorcoach travel in the Richmond Region is easy. While driving in the Region, it's helpful to remember these tips:

  • Right turns are allowed on red unless posted otherwise.
  • Left turns on red are allowed from a one-way street onto another one-way street, unless posted otherwise.
  • Headlights must be turned on during inclement weather or whenever windshield wipers are used.
  • There are many four-way stops in the Region. When two or more vehicles approach a four-way stop controlled by stop signs, the driver on the left must yield to the driver on the right.
  • Downtown Richmond streets are mostly one way with Broad Street as an exception. One-way traffic generally alternates with every other street.
