Creative juices are flowing in Virginia's Richmond Region. From small galleries to large and ever-expanding museums, you're bound to be awed by the area's impressive collections and talent.
Virginia Center for Architecture - Get oriented to historic Monument Avenue at this newly-opened center, housed in a 27,000 square foot mansion designed by famous architect John Russell Pope. The center features architecture-related exhibits and an impressive gift shop.
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts - You'll find the largest museum collection in the Southeast including art nouveau, art deco, contemporary, impressionist, African, Himalayan and British sporting art as well as the largest public display of Faberg Russian Imperial eggs outside of Russia. Original works by Monet, Cassatt, Lichtenstein and Warhol also are displayed at the first state-supported art museum in the United States.
First Fridays - Art galleries on and off Broad Street near Belvidere open their doors the first Friday night of every month (except July and August) to unveil new exhibits and encourage exploration of all the area's galleries.
Art Works - Similar to First Fridays, Art Works hosts new shows and meet-the-artists receptions the fourth Friday of each month. Other times, you can enjoy special art shows and see artists at work at this Hull Street gallery.
